People may think there’s not much to do here in Texas, but Jessica Serna, a travel blogger from Dallas better known as My Curly Adventures, says otherwise.
Every day, Jessica travels the state with her husband and shows all the destinations we know, love or have yet to know to over 100,000 Instagram followers and nearly 500,000 TikTok followers.
She knows how to explore the Lone Star State, so we asked her about her favorite vacation spots to visit during a summer in Texas. From a peaceful lake to a massive canyon hike, you definitely won’t be bored this season!

Caddo Lake, on the Texas-Louisiana border, is one of the only natural lakes in Texas.
If you find a stay at Jessica’s favorite lakeside cottage, Hodge Podge Cottages, you’ll have the chance to enjoy the quiet peace before a day of sightseeing in nearby towns like Jefferson, TX, and Marshall, TX.
“It’s one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen and if you manage to get out on the lake early in the morning it’s almost a meditative experience,” Serna told Narcity.

The city is just outside of Austin, Texas, and is best known for the city’s name: its beautiful springs. As well as seeing the surrounding natural beauty, Serna said there are gorgeous vineyards to stroll through and plenty of adorable glamping spots to get away from it all.
“I love Dripping Springs because it’s really the underdog of some of our small towns in Texas,” she told Narcity.
Her favorite stay is at Camp Lucy, where there are tons of fun activities to do like hiking, painting, fishing, and even feeding the alpacas.
Big Bend National Park
Big Bend National Park is probably at the top of our list of our favorite places to visit. The incredible canyons and endless hiking trails are hard to beat. That’s why he’s also on the list of travel influencers!
“No matter your experience level, everyone can enjoy the adventure through Big Bend,” Serna told us. “Whether you want to go hardcore camping or enjoy the modern luxury of a mattress and air conditioning between your hikes, there is something to satisfy all types of travelers while experiencing the gem that is Big National Park. Good.”
