Palnadu Dist tourist spots to get a makeover – The New Indian Express

GUNTUR: After the reorganization of wards, the tourist spots in Palnadu district are expected to get a makeover. After the formation of the new wards, the majority of the tourist spots in the former Guntur district are now in Palnadu, including Amaravati, Nagarjuna Sagar , Kotappakonda Shrine and Kondaveedu Fort.

The Department of Tourism has undertaken several development works at Kondaveedu Fort. The fort has become one of the major tourist spots in the former Guntur district. The first phase of the ghat road construction was completed and the second phase works were in progress. The 30ft wide and 680m long road will be laid with an estimate of `11.80 crore.

Speaking to TNIE, the head of Kondaveedu Fort Development Committee, Siva Reddy, pointed out that the first phase of the construction of the ghat road has changed the face of the fort and attendance has increased. He said after the completion of the second phase of the ghat road, visitors will be able to visit new spots at the fort. He further added that the transportation will be more comfortable.

As part of the central government’s Buddhist Swadesh Darshan Tour, Buddhavanam was built in Amaravati at a cost of 15 crores to attract pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. An open-air theatre, auditorium, food court, open meditation hall, information center and library hall have also been set up.

Tourism department officials are taking the necessary steps to complete the ongoing construction work and open it to the public as soon as possible. Along with this, a mega tourism project was started in Nagarjuna Sagar. About 250 acres of land has been provided half a kilometer from the Nagarjuna Sagar project.

According to the officials, various adventure sports, luxury resorts and agribusiness projects will also be set up, which will be added to the existing museum on Nagarjuna hill. Officials are also in talks with a few tour companies to offer bus services from Guntur and Narasaraopet to various tourist spots in the district.
