In Massachusetts, Thrillist named Canyon Ranch the most relaxing.
He noted that the “New Age-y wellness retreat chain” is “surrounded by the mountainous, forested beauty of the Berkshires.”
“Housed in a century-old mansion far from Bellefontaine (you really have to look at the original library to believe it), this is one of those nutty twig spa experiences you rush for when an unexpected bargain pops up. “, says the website. . “There are plenty of solitary activities including hiking, biking, sculling, paddleboarding, swimming in the indoor pool, and of course a million and one spa treatments.”
It also has locations in Tucson, Vegas and Turkey.
Thrillist also suggested going to Stowe in Vermont.
“You have mountains, rivers, covered bridges, mountain biking and horseback riding, ski resorts that turn into spa getaways, ski mountains that turn into summer hikes,” says Thrillist. “You’ve got farm-to-table restaurants, you’ve got local brews, you’ve got the friendliest people New England has to offer, and you’ve got Ben & Jerry’s nearby.”
And in Maine, the outlet suggested going to Lake Sebago to relax.
“It’s the kind of place where they ring a bell for lunch, and lunch turns out to be lobster rolls, and then you go to dinner after cocktail hour and find a bunch of lobsters cooked in steam in the middle of the buffet table,” it says. “That is to say, it’s about perfect.”
