Jack shares stories of his new home with new friends at Immanuel | Building industry

A jovial Jack arrived at Immanuel as a thin layer of frost still covered the Midwest. Since then, a tidal wave of good humor has emerged from its soil. The team laughs at his jokes and exclaims “oh, Jack!” and recount their day. On her kitchen wall, a shiny red metal fish sets the tone for the kitchen decor. “I caught this, you know,” he smiled, “No, a friend helped me decorate.” He gestures towards the rest of the apartment, made up of beach decor, fishing memories, and a lifetime of stories.

Jack’s storied career is comprised of entrepreneurship; its history is dotted with social, fundraising and community commitments. Born, raised and retired locally, Jack was determined to stay true to his roots when he decided to move into a retirement residence. After losing his wife, Jack had to take care of the family home and wanted to move before it was a necessity. “It was an easy decision; I am close to my family and this is my home,” he comments.

Like many older people, Jack was reluctant to move. He didn’t need assisted living, didn’t need help from a caregiver, and he just wasn’t ready. Financially, he began to explore the possibility of moving to Immanuel. In Immanuel communities, air conditioning resilience is no longer a concern for residents. No shingle replacement needed after a Midwest windstorm. During freezing temperatures or scorching summers, the gas and electric bill will not change; everything is included. When Jack compared his current expenses with a future at Immanuel, his financial future was bright.
