Hyderabad: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said the Telangana government is working to develop popular irrigation projects in tourist spots including Konda Pochamma, Kaleshwaram, Karivena and Basavapur in Yadadri.
The Minister was speaking after the launch of the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) at the HICC in Madhapur here on Tuesday. Goud said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has given top priority to tourism development and specifically instructed tourism officials to develop tourist spots in different reservoirs across the state, he said.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the travel and tourism sector has been hit hard. Given the difficulties faced by tourism operators in the state, the government has given some incentives and the industry is starting to get back on track, he said.

The event organizers said domestic travel is expected to hit record numbers as many Indians are expected to travel to the country in 2022. Markets in central and southern India would play a major role.
Domestic air passenger traffic is approaching pre-pandemic levels, with airlines carrying 1.14 crore air travelers in May 2022, compared to 1.22 crore in May 2019. Hotel occupancy, which was fell below 50% in January 2022 due to the impact of Omicron, has now reached an occupancy level of 65%, exceeding pre-pandemic levels and the average daily rate (ADR) for three days consecutively during the second week of April.
