His heart was in the right place.
An Irish Rail passenger has been praised for alerting staff to what she thought was someone in need of medical assistance on a platform.
The concerned woman took to Twitter to inform the company that she had spotted a man who had apparently passed out at a ticket office – but no one was there to see him.
She wrote, “Hi I’m on the train but there’s a man collapsed at the Ashtown station ticket office!!! Looks like no one is there to help.”
Irish Rail responded by thanking the woman for reporting the incident, but informed her that everything was fine.
“We checked in and a staff member fixes a machine and lays on the floor doing it,” he wrote. “Thank you for your concern but everything/everyone is fine.”
Twitter users couldn’t get over this hilarious exchange. Many people praised the woman for her kindness – even though things weren’t quite as they seemed.
“You did a great thing and you should be proud of it. Well done,” one person wrote.
“Hilarious but fair play,” said another.
“Good to see kindness in the world right now,” added a third.
“Oh the embarrassment…but her heart was in the right place,” wrote a fourth.
Another person retweeted the interaction saying, “How is this website free?”
Meanwhile, others have decided to share their similar confusions.
One user wrote: “When I was much younger I approached one of the staff at Madame Tussauds as I was concerned about an overweight person who appeared to have passed out.
“Turns out it was a wax statue of a sleeping, overweight tourist.”
